PUPIL PREMIUM REPORT

All members of the SLT, teaching body, governors and support staff are motivated by our mission to give our ‘socially disadvantaged’ pupils outstanding support and teaching to give them the very best start in life, one that aims to give pupils from disadvantaged backgrounds lifelong learning experiences that create highly motivated pupils who will strive to reach their full potential, regardless of background or context. It is our core aim to demonstrate how great teaching and careful planning can make a huge impact on the outcomes of disadvantaged children.

To achieve this mission, we are committed to meeting the pastoral, social and academic needs of pupils within the school environment. We are committed to ‘Closing the Gap’ between vulnerable pupils and their peers; the pupil premium grant forms a vital part of this process. Our Pupil Premium strategy is rooted in our whole-school ethos – with such a high number of PP pupils, it is essential that our whole school strategies always reflect the high number of pupils from disadvantaged backgrounds, expecting the very best from them at all times.

Our Pupil Premium Strategy helps us remove barriers to learning so that all of our pupils reach their full potential and enables them to fully engage in our curriculum and school life. The governors reserve the right to allocate the pupil premium funding to support any pupils or groups of pupils the school has legitimately identified as being socially disadvantaged.

Provision will be made through:

  • Facilitating pupils’ access to education
  • Facilitating pupils’ access to the curriculum, both in school and on school trips
  • Providing culturally enriching experiences cost free to ensure all of our disadvantaged pupils have equal life chances
  • Alternative support and intervention within the school through high quality intervention teaching and support

It is the responsibility of the school to explain pupil premium expenditure to parents in the form of an annual statement. This report aims to detail information on how Pupil Premium has been used within St. Monica's Primary School.
