What a truly wonderful and memorable day of celebration we enjoyed as the St Monica’s school and parish community came together at St Monica’s Church for a very special Mass.

This year marks an incredible milestone in the history of our school as St Monica’s Catholic Primary School celebrates its Centenary – 100 years of faith, learning and community. It was particularly fitting that we were able to celebrate this important anniversary alongside the Feast of St Monica, our school and parish patron.

We were honoured to welcome The Most Reverend John Sherrington, Archbishop of Liverpool, who celebrated Mass with our parish, school community, families and friends. It was a beautiful opportunity to give thanks for all those who have been part of the St Monica’s story over the past 100 years and to pray for the generations of children, families, staff and parishioners who have made our community what it is today.

Celebrating a Commitment to Service

The Mass was made even more special by the enrolment of a number of our past and present pupils into the Guild of St Stephen, recognising their commitment and dedicated service to the Church as altar servers.

We are incredibly proud of them all. Their willingness to serve is a wonderful example of putting faith into action and living out the values that are at the heart of our Catholic community.

It was particularly lovely to see former pupils continuing to be part of the life of St Monica’s and serving alongside our current children – a wonderful reminder that being part of the St Monica’s family extends far beyond a child’s years at our school.

100 Years of St Monica’s

Our Centenary gives us a very special opportunity to reflect upon and celebrate our school’s rich history while also looking forward to the future.

For 100 years, St Monica’s has been at the heart of its community, providing generations of children with an education rooted in faith, love and service. Although much has changed during that time, the strong relationship between our school, parish and families remains at the heart of who we are.

Following Mass, the celebrations continued in our newly refurbished parish hall, which received a special blessing from Archbishop John. Families, parishioners, staff and friends were then able to come together over refreshments and enjoy the opportunity to meet and speak with the Archbishop.

It was a joyful occasion filled with faith, friendship and a real sense of community.

We would like to thank Archbishop John Sherrington, our clergy, altar servers, families, parishioners, staff, pupils and everyone who helped to make the celebration so special.

Most importantly, congratulations to all of our past and present pupils who were enrolled into the Guild of St Stephen. We are extremely proud of you and the wonderful example of service you provide to others.
