A Visit to Church with Year 1 

Year 1 enjoyed a wonderful visit to church, where they explored the key features of the church and learned about their importance. The children were excited to share their knowledge with Father Ged, confidently identifying and explaining the different features they had been learning about in class. Father Ged was astounded by their enthusiasm and impressive understanding, praising them for their excellent knowledge and engagement. The visit concluded with the children singing hymns alongside Father Ged, making it a memorable and joyful experience for everyone.

This visit helped the children to deepen their understanding of the Church as a special place where God's family gathers to worship. As we are reminded in Scripture:

“For where two or three gather in my name, there am I with them”

(Matthew 18:20).

The children experienced this sense of community and faith as they learned, sang, and celebrated together.

Faith in Action

Our visit to church gave the children the opportunity to put their faith into action by showing respect, reverence, and curiosity as they explored God's house. They listened attentively to Father Ged, asked thoughtful questions, and demonstrated a deep appreciation for the sacred space around them. By sharing their knowledge with confidence and encouraging one another in their learning, the children lived out the Gospel values of community, respect, and kindness. Their enthusiasm and pride in their faith were a wonderful example of how we can use our gifts to grow closer to God and support others on their faith journey.
