St Monica's Contribution to Keep Bootle Beautiful

Catholic Mission: Looking After our Parish

St Monica's Contribution to Keep Bootle Beautiful

A huge thank you to the fantastic Neil from One Vision Housing for choosing the winners of the One Vision Safer Communities competition. We received over 200 entries, and the standard was incredibly high. These talented children created outstanding posters to help educate people about the dangers and impact of fly-tipping.

Their creativity and community spirit will help support efforts to keep our local area clean, safe and beautiful. We are delighted that the winning posters will be featured across the local community, helping to raise awareness and encourage everyone to take pride in the places where we live, work and play.

Congratulations to all the winners, and well done to every child who took part.

Faith in Action

This project is a wonderful example of faith being lived out through care for our neighbours and stewardship of the environment. By using their talents to promote respect for our shared spaces, these young people are making a positive difference and helping to build stronger, cleaner and more welcoming communities for everyone.

As Scripture reminds us:

“Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others.”

(Philippians 2:4)

Through small acts of responsibility and service, we can all play our part in caring for the communities God has entrusted to us.

Live Simply

This initiative also supports our journey towards the Live Simply Award. By encouraging others to tackle fly-tipping and take pride in their surroundings, our pupils are making a valuable contribution to keeping the local community clean and welcoming for all.

This work links closely to the message of Pope Francis in Laudato Si', where we learn that our world is God's creation and a precious gift that must be cherished and protected. Through their posters and commitment to caring for the environment, our children are putting these teachings into action by showing respect for creation and inspiring others to do the same.

As we are reminded in Scripture:

“The earth is the Lord’s, and everything in it.”

(Psalm 24:1)

By caring for our local environment, we show gratitude for God's gifts and demonstrate our responsibility to be faithful stewards of creation, helping to ensure that our community remains a beautiful place for present and future
