Welcome to Year 4 at St Monica’sIn Year 4, children continue to grow in independence, confidence, and curiosity as they build on their learning from Year 3. It is a year in which they begin to take greater responsibility for their learning, develop deeper thinking skills, and enjoy exploring a wide range of engaging topics across the curriculum.
Our classrooms remain calm, safe, and happy spaces where children are encouraged to ask thoughtful questions, share ideas, and celebrate their progress. From reading and writing to problem-solving in maths, hands-on Science investigations, and exploring the wider world through History, Geography, and RE, learning in Year 4 is both meaningful and memorable.
This year is especially significant as children prepare for their First Holy Communion—a joyful and spiritual milestone in their faith journey—and work towards mastering their times tables in preparation for the Multiplication Tables Check.

At the heart of everything we do are our school values: faith, aspiration, resilience, and respect. We are committed to ensuring every child feels valued, supported, and encouraged as they grow academically, socially, and spiritually.
We look forward to working in partnership with you to support your child’s journey through Year 4—celebrating their successes and helping them thrive in all areas of school life.
