Friends of St. Monica's
We like to think that everyone linked to our school is a friend of St Monica’s! We do our best to make everyone welcome at all levels, as you would do with any friend.
There is also a group who help us in fundraising and events for our school community called The Friends of St Monica’s. This is a group of parents, carers and wider family members, who meet termly to plan fun and fund raising events for our children.
We have three main events in our year, one per term. In Autumn term, just before Christmas time, “The Friends” gather to decorate the school and assist with our annual pantomime for the children. In Spring term, they meet in late January to plan and prepare for our annual Valentine’s disco. At this event, the children enjoy a special disco as well as a super tuck shop and their favourite, the hot dog stall! In Summer term, “The Friends” meet early in June to plan for the big fund raising event of the year which is the school Summer Fayre. This is always held on the first Friday in July and goes ahead, whatever the weather!
Throughout the year, The Friends of St Monica’s raises up to £3,000 for school funds. Much of this goes on subsidising trips, visitors to school, and other events and the group have also been consulted upon to gather their opinions on issues like uniform choices, and family learning courses which we run in school. If ever you wish to join the group, just come to our termly coffee mornings which we hold just before each event so we can plan ahead and welcome new people to the group.
Meetings are announced via parent’s newsletters, our text system to parents, and on our website. Please look out for them and feel free to join us, help out, make new friends and have fun!
