St Monica's - Our Core Values
All our school staff and governors worked together at the start of the year to agree on our school vision, mission and core values which are firmly established in the heart of everything we do and are shared with pupils, parents and carers.
With our vision, mission and core values in mind, staff and governors identify and work on focused areas of improvement collaboratively and efficiently.
Here at St Monica’s, our Core Values are:
- Faith: We value our Faith and are committed to establishing a loving and caring approach, underpinned by the teachings of Christ
- Aspiration: We want to our pupils to demand the best from themselves, and have the highest of aspirations - both now, for high school and in employment
- Resilience: We each our pupils to overcome challenges and become resilient, helping them develop a growth mindset to ensure challenges are seen positively
- Respect: We teach our pupils to respect everybody as an equal, so that love and understanding of all people and different cultures and faiths is embedded whilst in our school
At St Monica’s Catholic Primary School, we are committed to providing a strong Catholic environment that is caring, friendly and safe for all of our pupils so they can learn in a relaxed and secure atmosphere. We believe every pupil should be able to participate in all school activities in an enjoyable and safe environment and be protected from harm. This is the responsibility of every adult employed by in St Monica’s Catholic Primary School. We recognise our responsibility to safeguard and promote the welfare of all our pupils by protecting them from physical, sexual or emotional abuse, neglect and bullying.

We respect and value each person as unique and safeguard their right be themselves in a school that celebrates diversity and equality. We work as a team to create a healthy, active, caring and safe environment to protect the physical, emotional, social and mental welfare of your children.
Ethos:
The culture of our school will be based on the principles of dialogue, inclusion and mutual respect. All dealings between staff, students and parents will be characterised by a code of common courtesy and good manners. Partnership, working together and celebrating our diverse cultures, are the corner stone of our school community.
We are committed to providing a service to our students who are recognised as the most important group within the school community. Staff will demonstrate due consideration and respect for their students. Students' rights to voice opinions will be recognised and staff will work with students to deal with their concerns.
The efforts which members of staff make to improve the learning process and promote partnership will be recognised by students adopting an active role in their own learning.
When dealing with difficult situations we will seek to resolve problems by mediation, respecting the feelings of all involved.
The school will continue to develop its existing positive links with the local parish and community and promote civic pride in its achievements and reputation.
