Year Three

Year Three

Visit to Peel Ports, Seaforth

Year Three had the opportunity to visit Peel Ports, Seaforth, Merseyside on 5th February 24. The trip came about thanks to the kind suggestion of a parent in our current Year Four,  who is an employee of the port, and who gave us the relevant contact details.

The children had the opportunity to understand how goods are imported and exported into the United Kingdom. This helped them to understand some of the economic activities that are carried out in the local area.

The children fully enjoyed using the simulator to operate the huge cranes  that are now used to unload the containers from the ships. They had a tour around the port in a mini bus so they could see up close the recently installed four largest cranes. Back in the Port’s  classroom, the children learnt about the history of the port and how it has grown into the multi million pound operation that it is today providing employment and wealth to Merseyside.

We would like to take this opportunity to  thank all the staff at Peel Ports and we hope to return  next year.
